Rokurokubi

Storytelling through visuals

Based on the Japanese myth Rokurokubi, I transformed myself into a long-neck creature that wanders the night. Many folklores majorly revolve around “cursed” women whose heads detach from their bodies while asleep, floating around the village to kill men and drink their blood.

I’m not portraying a femme fatale version of myself. I decided to show it in a suffocating but powerful way. Instead of hurting others, my head and neck twist and dance filling the composition with energy from the night. While my body sits in a meditative position, ready to protect myself.
